"I have many wonderful memories in the 16 months since I have been here at DVC.  First, was the excitement when Chancellor Benjamin called to tell me that after the long and lengthy process, I had been selected as the President of DVC.  When I started at the college August 1, 2007 people were so friendly and invited me to all kinds of welcoming events.  The Academic Senate, Classified Senate, different Division and Department meetings,  student services areas,  all the constituent groups wanted to meet the new President and they all served food.  I gained 8 pounds and my assistant, Jeanie Dewhurst, started telling people that I could come to their event, but she was putting a sign on me that said “don’t feed the President.”   

There have been many wonderful things that have occurred during my short time here, the first all college convocation with about 300 people in attendance and the second all college convocation had about 350 people.   We held a four day leadership training in August  08 and 63 people (faculty, staff, administration, and students) volunteered to come and participate.   One of the nicest happenings was in August 08 when I spoke at the opening day faculty senate meeting and received wondrous and welcoming applause and a standing ovation. There are many changes occurring in this day and age all around us and I’m very proud to be a part of those at Diablo Valley College "
